Knesselare is a former Belgian municipality in the Flanders region with 8,236 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2018). It was created in 1976 from the merger of the former municipalities Knesselare (16.55 km²) and Ursel (20.77 km²). On January 1, 2019, she merged with Aalter .

Bruges is 15 kilometers northwest, Ghent 27 kilometers southeast and Brussels about 75 kilometers southeast.

The next motorway exits are at Aalter and Beernem on the A10 / E 40 .

The nearest regional train stations are in Aaltert, Beernem and Eeklo , and national express trains stop in Bruges and Ghent.

There is a regional airport near Ostend and an international airport near the capital, Brussels.
