Knivskjellodden viewed from the North Cape.

Knivskjellodden is the name of a headland on the Norwegian island of Magerøya . It is 4.18 kilometers west of the North Cape and with a latitude of 71 ° 11 ′ 08 ″ north about 1,400 meters further north than this, making Knivskjellodden the northernmost point of this island. However, it is less spectacular than the North Cape because, in contrast to this, it only protrudes flat into the sea.

The most northerly point of mainland Europe is the headland Kinnarodden on the mainland peninsula Nordkinn , which is less well known and hardly developed for tourism.

In contrast to the better known North Cape, Knivskjellodden cannot be reached by road; you can reach this headland via an 8 km long, not very well marked footpath from a signposted parking lot on the road a few kilometers south of the North Cape.
