The Knob Point ( English , Spanish Punta Botón , each for hilltop ) is a headland that marks the southwestern end of Vindication Island in the archipelago of the South Sandwich Islands . The Buddha Rock protrudes from the South Atlantic, 700 m to the west .
Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations , who surveyed the area in 1930, gave the headland its descriptive name, based on the hill on it .
