history
Since 1830 button production was an important industry in the Wuppertal area.
In 1906/07 the building of the button factory Pfenning-Schumacher-Werke KG, founded in 1874, was built in two construction phases by the merchant Walter Luckhaus using steel construction. The building has three wings and a basement. It has 3 ½ floors. The building is characterized primarily by the clinker brick facade with large and numerous windows, which suggests the architecture of late historicism .
The company PSW-Knopf GmbH , which still produces there today, is named after the Pfenning-Schumacher-Werke Wuppertal-Barmen .
The entire building complex was entered on February 25, 1999 under monument number 4099 as a monument in the list of monuments of the city of Wuppertal.
It is also a station on the threads, colors, water, steam - part of Route 13.
