The legend of the button maker rock, portrayed by Franz Xaver Bucher in 1938 at the “Scharfeck” house in Fridingen

The name button maker rock goes back to the following legend of the button maker: On April 4, 1823, the honorable button maker Fidelis Martin is said to have crashed on the button maker rock . He was previously on the market in Tuttlingen with his horse . Night fell on the way back to Beuron. According to the legend, he met the " Hardt fräulein" and led the button maker up the steep rock. Man and horse fell into the depths. It was not until April 18 that the monastery shepherd of Beuron found her dead at the foot of the rock.
