Dürckheim Palace

The Palais Dürckheim is a former aristocratic palace at Türkenstrasse 4 in Munich . The architect Franz Jakob Kreuter , a student of Friedrich von Gärtner , built the red-striped brick building between 1842 and 1844 on behalf of the royal Bavarian chamberlain and chief steward, Count Friedrich Wilhelm Alfred von Dürckheim -Montmartin (1794–1879).

The building is located in the vicinity of the three Pinakotheken in the Munich art area . From May 2006 to autumn 2014 it was used under the name Palais Pinakothek as a center for art education, with changing thematic programs and a variety of methodical approaches to provide opportunities for introducing the works of art in the Pinakothek. The Bayerische Landesbank had made the building available to the Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlungen without rent. In the end, the Museum Education Center had two rooms. The closure in autumn 2014 came as a surprise and led to a restriction in the educational offerings of the museum.
