The St. Pölten junction is a traffic junction in the form of a motorway triangle and connects the West Autobahn (A1) with the Kremser Schnellstraße (S33), which begins at it. It lies on the border between the eponymous city of St. Pölten and Pyhra . 65,000 to 85,000 vehicles pass through it every day, depending on the day of the week.

history

The St. Pölten junction was opened to traffic on November 18, 1981, together with the first two kilometers of the Krems expressway to St. Pölten-Ost and four kilometers at Traismauer . The total costs for this construction phase amounted to 313 million schillings , which today corresponds to around 55 million euros.

The original plan was to start the Traisental expressway (S34) at the St. Pölten junction, but according to current plans, a new junction will be created west of St. Pölten.
