Knut Schulz

Knut Schulz (born November 17, 1937 in Berlin ) is a German historian .

Knut Schulz graduated from high school in Berlin-Zehlendorf in 1957 . From 1957 to 1963 Schulz studied history, German and philosophy at the Free University of Berlin and the Church University of Berlin . The first state examination took place in 1963. From 1963 to 1969 Schulz was a research assistant at the Friedrich Meinecke Institute and from 1969 to 1972 as an academic adviser. In 1966 he became ministeriality and bourgeoisie in Trier at the Free University of Berlin. In 1972 he completed his habilitation. In 1972 Schulz was appointed professor for medieval history at the Free University of Berlin and taught there until his retirement in 2002. In the college year 1995/1996 Schulz was a research fellow at the historical college in Munich.

His main research interests are the constitutional and social history of the High Middle Ages, the city history of the High and Late Middle Ages, knighthood, ministerialism and censorship, journeyman craftsmen, migration and the status of foreign groups.
