Knut Tielking
Knut Tielking (born January 13, 1967 in Bramsche ) is a German social and health scientist and university professor .
Life
Tielking graduated from high school in 1986 at the Lower Saxony boarding high school in Bad Bederkesa. Through training as a gardener (1986–1987, discontinued), experience as a paramedic (1988) and as an au pair in San Francisco, he successfully completed an apprenticeship as a banker in 1991. At the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg , he studied commercial teaching for vocational schools with the subjects of economics, politics, and vocational and business education (graduated in 1995 as a commercial teacher). This was followed by a legal clerkship at the Stade study seminar and the Johann Heinrich von Thünen School in Bremervörde. From there he moved in December 1996 as a research assistant to the “Addiction and Drug Research (SAUS)” department in the social sciences department at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg. Here Tielking obtained his doctorate in 2000. rer. pole. with the topic of optimizing the rehabilitation of alcohol addicts and qualified as a phil. habil. with the topic of health management as an educational field of action in the educational sciences department.
Since 1996 Tielking has worked on various research projects in the fields of addiction and drug research as well as health management and health promotion. In 2001 he co-founded the Devianz working group, which is recognized according to the Lower Saxony University Act (NHG), founded the Institute of Health Management (IGema) at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg in 2003 and the in-Institute Self-Help and Patient Academy (SPA) at the university, which is also recognized according to the NHG Emden / Leer . In 2005, Tielking moved to the University of Bremen as a lecturer for health and care management, department of human and health sciences and in 2007 to an administrative professorship in health services research at the University of Applied Sciences Oldenburg / Ostfriesland / Wilhelmshaven (FH OOW). Since 2010 he has been Professor of Social Work at the University of Emden / Leer in the Department of Social Work and Health in Emden. From 2016 to 2019 he was a member of the collective department management. He is a member of the management of the doctoral program with the University of Vechta "Social Work: Deviance and Social Cohesion".
Internationally, from 1994 to 2009 Tielking worked once a year at the Babes-Bolyai-University Cluj-Napoca in Romania as a visiting professor (Associated Professor) and in 2013/2014 as an adjunct professor at the San Diego State University (SDSU) / USA. He has been a member of the Center for Alcohol & Drug Studies & Services at SDSU since 2013. Further guest stays at foreign universities followed, again at SDSU (most recently in 2019) and at Southern Cross University / Australia.
Research and Teaching
His research focuses on (addiction) prevention research and health promotion over the entire life span. Results from research work in federal and state model projects as well as projects with municipalities and pension insurance funds have been incorporated into the standard care such as B. “Kombi-Nord”, “Street work and case management for people with addiction problems and a migration background”, the “Emden remuneration model in outpatient assisted living” and “Municipal addiction prevention”.
