The Catholic Church of the Holy Family (Polish: Kościół Świętej Rodziny ) in Zakopane was built between 1877 and 1896 by Józef Pius Dziekoński in the neo-Romanesque style on the initiative of Pastor Józef Stolarczyk . The construction was largely financed by Władysław Zamoyski . The interior was designed in the Zakopane style , with the main altar by Kazimierz Wakulski and the color scheme and stained glass windows by Janusz Kotarbiński . In 1899 the consecration took place under the patronage of the Holy Family by the Krakow Bishop Jan Puzyna . The building is a historical monument. The Catholic clergyman Piotr Dańkowski , who was murdered in Auschwitz concentration camp in 1942 and beatified in 1999 with 107 other Polish martyrs, was dean of the church from 1935 to 1941. Pope John Paul II celebrated a St. Mass in the church.

Geographical location

The church is located in the center of Zakopan on the Krupówki promenade in the lecture pit at the foot of the Tatra Mountains .
