Coordination office for IT standards

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Coordination Office for IT Standards ( KoSIT ) coordinates the development and operation of IT standards for data exchange in the public administration of the Federal Republic of Germany . The establishment of the KoSIT is a consequence of the amendment of the Basic Law by Article 91c as well as the associated IT-State Treaty. KoSIT supports the IT planning council in its task of deciding on non-disciplinary and cross-disciplinary IT interoperability and IT security standards and of managing e-government projects across the federal and state levels.

history

Historically, KoSIT arose from the development of the Online Services Computer Interface (OSCI) and was then known as the OSCI control center . As part of the further development of the associated data formats around the so-called XÖV framework , the name was changed to the Coordination Office for IT Standards (KoSIT) on April 1, 2011 . The KoSIT is still part of the department responsible for e-government in the core administration of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen.

tasks

KoSIT has been commissioned by the IT planning council for four topics:

  • XÖV development and operation
  • Coordination and public relations
  • Secure transport of data in e-government
  • Standardization agenda

KoSIT also receives orders from other public administration bodies for which separate financing is provided. This option is currently used in particular by the internal administration.

The best-known activities of KoSIT are the support of the XÖV framework and Online Services Computer Interface (OSCI).
