Kobla Ladzekpo

Kobla Ladzekpo is a Ghanaian percussionist.

Ladzepko comes from a family whose members have been drummers and composers among the Ewe for generations . He performed as a member of various dance and cultural groups in the Soviet Union, Israel, Australia and the USA. Since 1982 he has worked as a lecturer at several Australian universities and the Naropa Institute in Boulder / Colorado .

He studied at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) and received a master's degree in anthropology from California State University . He currently serves as Co-Director of African Music and Dance at the California Institute of the Arts and Director of the Music and Dance of Ghana Ensemble at the University of California, Los Angeles .

In addition, Ladzekpo heads the Zandonu African Music and Dance Company, founded by him and his wife Dzidzorgbe Lawluvi-Ladzekpo , and the record label Zandonu Records . In 1991 he worked on the soundtrack of the film Mississippi Masala .
