The Kochersberg is a 301 meter high mountain in the territory of the Alsatian municipality of Neugartheim-Ittlenheim . The surrounding fertile landscape is also called Kochersberg.

In the Middle Ages , the Kochersberg Castle stood on its summit , but it was destroyed in the 16th century and is now only a ruin .

Between 1794 and 1797 a Chappe telegraph was erected on the mountain and was in use until 1852. The tower was part of the Paris – Strasbourg optical telegraph line . Since the end of the 20th century, it has been replaced by an immovable monument in the form of a Chappe tower, which can still be seen from a distance of ten kilometers on a clear day.
