Koenraad Dillen

Koenraad Francine Gaston "Koen" Dillen (born November 6, 1964 in Mortsel ) is a Belgian right-wing politician of the Vlaams Belang party . From 2003 to 2009 he was a member of the European Parliament .

Life

Dillen is a trained translator (1987) and worked as a French teacher from 1989 to 1990. He then worked as an account manager at Rank Xerox until 1992 . From 1991 to 1994 Dillen was administrative secretary in the Belgian Chamber of Deputies and from 1994 to 2003 civil servant.

In 2003 Dillen was elected to the European Parliament . He was a member of the Identity, Tradition and Sovereignty faction , which was dissolved in November 2007, and has been non-attached since then. He was also a member of the Development Committee, the Delegation to the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly and the Delegation to the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly. After the European elections in 2009 , Dillen left the European Parliament.

In 2009 Dillen published a biography about François Mitterrand under the pseudonym Vincent Gounod . He had previously written a book about Nicolas Sarkozy under the pseudonym Maarten van der Roest .

Dillen is the son of Karel Dillens , the founder of the Vlaams Blok party , which dissolved in November 2004 after being convicted by the Belgian Supreme Court of Appeal and re-founded as Vlaams Belang . His sister Marijke Dillen also works for Vlaams Belang.
