Karel Dillen

Karel Dillen (born October 16, 1925 in Antwerp , † April 27, 2007 in Schilde-'s Gravenwezel ) was a Flemish nationalist and Belgian politician .

His political career began in 1947. In 1977 he founded the right-wing Vlaams Nationale Partij, which became the Vlaams Blok in 1978 . Dillen was chairman of the Vlaams Blok for many years until 1996, when Frank Vanhecke took over from him.

Dillen was a member of the 3rd , 4th and 5th European Parliament . In 2003 he resigned for health reasons.

In 1951, Dillen translated the controversial revisionist publication Nuremberg ou la terre promise ( Nuremberg or the Promised Land) by Maurice Bardèche (published 1948). The translation appears as Neurenberg, het beloofde land .

His son Koenraad Dillen and daughter Marijke Dillen are also active in Vlaams Belang .
