The Kohlhepp-Schanze was a ski jumping hill of the category K 58 in the Baden-Württemberg town of Furtwangen .
history
In Furtwangen, ski jumping has been practiced on a snow hill on Friedhofsberg since 1908 . The first ski jumping hill was built in 1925 and 1926 on Engelsgrund in Furtwangen. After the Second World War, SC Furtwangen built a 55-meter hill at another location. The Norwegian Olympic champion Dahl EilertIn 1953 jumped the farthest ever jumped distance of 58 m on this hill. The area around the ski jump was declared a construction area in 1960 and the ski jump had to be abandoned. From 1972 the Kohlhepp ski jump was built and inaugurated on February 2nd, 1976. After the plastic matting in 1985, the hill was mainly used by young jumpers. The last modernization took place in 2001. In March 2006 the inrun tower was damaged by excessive snow loads and finally had to be demolished completely. This ended the almost hundred year old tradition of the town of Furtwangen.
