Kokumin no Seikatsu ga Daiichi ( Japanese 国民 の 生活 が 第一 , dt. About "The life of the citizens [comes] first" or also "... of the people ...", Seikatsu for short ( 生活 ); English People's Life First , short LF) was a political party in Japan headed by Ichirō Ozawa that existed in the second half of 2012. The media and the public often referred to the party as Ozawa shintō ( 小 沢 新 党 ), the "new Ozawa party".

It was founded in July 2012 after Ozawa and 48 other members of the ruling Democratic Party from both chambers of the national parliament resigned from the party in opposition to the planned doubling of value added tax ( shōhi-zei , literally "consumption tax") or had been excluded. Under the later party name, they had already formed parliamentary groups in both chambers in early July 2012. After its founding, the party was the second largest opposition party with 36 members in the lower house - the MP Chōbin Zukeran participated in the faction but not in founding the party. The party's main short-term aim was to prevent the VAT increase; Other program items announced at the founding meeting are the rejection of the government's persecution of restarting the nuclear power plants, the rapid implementation of reforms for fiscal decentralization and the continuation of anti-inflationary policies. With the Shinto Kizuna , also split off from the Democratic Party , a common parliamentary group was formed. Negotiations on cooperation with the Osaka Ishin no Kai of Tōru Hashimoto , which advanced into national politics in the next general election, failed over the question of the possible participation of Japan in the transpacific free trade zone TPP ; Ozawa's party refuses to participate, Hashimoto's party is aiming for it.

General Secretary of the party was Shozo Azuma , the general meeting of lawmakers from both chambers led Kenji Yamaoka , the Assembly of the House of Representatives Sadatoshi Kumagai that the upper house deputies Tadashi Hirono , the campaign committee Ozawa himself. The party name grabbed a slogan of the Democratic Party in the general election campaign 2009 on.

At the beginning of August 2012, the party presented the key points of its political program at the opening of the party headquarters: The "three most urgent measures" were the prevention or withdrawal of the VAT increase, the complete nuclear phase-out within ten years and the strengthening of the local authorities. The formulation of specific demands in other policy areas was postponed. There should be an early merger with the New Kizuna Party, a collaboration, but not a merger, with the New Daichi Party of Muneo Suzuki. In November 2012, the Shinto Kizuna MPs joined Ozawa's party, with the exception of Chairman Akira Uchiyama .

On November 27, 2012 the party executive decided to dissolve the party and to join the new Nippon Mirai no Tō ("Future Party of Japan") of Yukiko Kada . The future party split again after the devastating general election in December 2012. The indirect successor of the Kokumin no Seikatsu ga Daiichi is the Seikatsu no Tō by Ichirō Ozawa, in which most of the remaining MPs gathered.
