Kolda von Colditz kneels and dedicates his work to Abbess Kunigunde

Kolda von Colditz (* 1265–75; † 1323–27) was a Bohemian Dominican , inquisitor and writer .

Life

Kolda came from the Saxon noble family Colditz . Presumably he stayed at the court of Wenceslas II in his youth and later went to Olomouc , where he served the bishop until 1310. In 1318 he was appointed Inquisitor for Bohemia and in 1319 was entrusted with the management of the order province of Bohemia. At the request of Sister Wenceslas, the abbess of the St. George's monastery Kunigunde and her suggestions, he wrote the mystical treatise “De strictu milite” ( From the brave knight ) in 1312 and “De mansionibus coelestibus” ( from heavenly quarters ). These works from the Kunigunden Passional are literary witnesses to the faith at the beginning of the 14th century and the blossoming of the cult of Mary .
