Kole Omotoso

Bankole Ajibabi Omotoso (* 1943 in Akure , Nigeria ) is a Nigerian writer . He became known as a writer of short stories, short stories and novels, as well as a playwright and columnist .

Life

Kole Omotoso studied French and Arabic at the University of Ibadan . He initially worked as a teacher and completed postgraduate studies in Edinburgh . From 1972 he was a lecturer in Arabic language and Islamic studies at the University of Ibadan and held other academic teaching positions in Nigeria, Lesotho and Scotland . He has been teaching in South Africa since 1991, first in Cape Town , then at Stellenbosch University .

He became known throughout South Africa through numerous appearances on television advertising . He was also President of the Nigerian Writers' Association ANA. He published his first novella in 1971; This was followed by many short stories, novels, novels and scientific treatises as well as columns for the magazine West Africa . His work is shaped by politics, so his book Just Before Drawn (1988) on Nigerian history after independence led to several complaints from criticized people.
