Koliba (Bratislava)
Koliba (German alpine hut or straw hut ) is an unofficial part of the Bratislava district Nové Mesto (New Town) at the foot of the Little Carpathians . It belongs to the Bratislava Forest Park , a popular excursion destination. Here you will find the Bratislava TV tower on the Kamzík mountain (German: Gemsenberg , 439 m above sea level), the Koliba film studios, an almost 1 km long chairlift (opened in 1972, closed in 1989 and in operation again since 2005) and villas belonging to wealthy residents.
The name is derived from the former Strohhütte inn ; this was popularly called koliba , and later the whole district was called that.
