Alfred von Vollard-Bockelberg
Alfred Bernhard Karl Egon von Vollard-Bockelberg (born June 18, 1874 in Magdeburg , † July 24, 1945 pronounced dead) was a German officer , most recently general of the artillery and head of the Army Weapons Office and temporarily military commander in various cities.

Alfred von Vollard-Bockelberg was the son of a Prussian captain Egon von Vollard-Bockelberg (* December 2, 1849 - August 24, 1937) and his wife Elisabeth Marie Louise Emilie Valeska von Schmettow (* May 13, 1849 - October 23 1903), a daughter of the politician Bernhard Gottfried Emil von Schmettow (1818–1889).
Life
After his cadet training , he joined the 2nd Guards Field Artillery Regiment in Potsdam on March 17, 1894 as a second lieutenant .
With the outbreak of the First World War he served in the 2nd Pomeranian Field Artillery Regiment No. 17 as a captain and was promoted to major on November 28, 1914 . In the following years he worked as a general staff officer and at the beginning of 1918 became department head of the chief of the general staff of the field army.
After the war, in the Reichswehr adopted Vollard-Bockelsberg was on October 1, 1920, Lt. Col. promoted and as a regimental commander and staff officer in command group 2 in Kassel used. He held this position until mid-1922 and was then appointed commander in the 2nd (Prussian) Artillery Regiment in Güstrow . On February 1, 1923, he was promoted to colonel there . From 1 October 1924 to 30 September 1926 Vollard-Bockelsberg boss was of Staff of the Group Command 2 and was then transferred to the Defense Ministry to Berlin added. There he was inspector of the transport troops until mid-1929 and was promoted to major general on November 1, 1927 .
After his promotion to Lieutenant General on April 1, 1929, he was head of the Army Weapons Office in the Reichswehr Ministry from June 1, 1929 until his retirement on December 31, 1933 . On October 1, 1933, he was promoted to general of the artillery.
After retiring from active military service, Vollard-Bockelberg was a member of the four-person executive board of Braunkohle-Petrol AG from 1934 . This company was focused on synthetic fuel production , has been the most important fuel company in Germany since 1937 and played a key role in fulfilling the four-year plan .
At the beginning of the Second World War , Vollard-Bockelberg was made available to the army and appointed military commander in Poznan . This was followed on October 25, 1939 by his appointment as Commander in Chief of the Border Guard Section Command North and on November 5, 1939 as Commanding General of the Deputy I. Army Corps and Commander in Military District I ( Königsberg ). He worked in both functions until May 14, 1940. After a brief transfer to the Führerreserve , he was appointed military commander in Paris in June 1940 . He held this position until August 1, 1940, before he was again transferred to the Führerreserve and finally retired from the Wehrmacht on August 31 of the same year .
In July 1945 Vollard-Bockelberg was arrested by Soviet troops and he has been considered missing ever since. The Schöneberg District Court declared him dead on July 11, 1953, retroactively to July 24, 1945.
