The Vilnius Technical College (lit. Vilniaus technikos kolegija ) was a state university in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius .

history

In 1922, the Vilnius Technology Association ( Vilniaus technikos draugija ) founded a technical school at the Žygimantas Augustas High School. In 1926 there were the first graduates ( mechanics and technicians of the waterways ). In 1927 an amelioration department was established and in 1930 an electrical engineering department. In 1939 the school became a technical center and in 1947 a polytechnic .

From 1951 to 1960 there were technical center for mechanization of agriculture ( Žemės ūkio mechanizacijos technikumas ). In 1966 a student residence hall was built. By 1989 there were a total of 20,000 qualified technicians. In 1991 the Politechnikum became the Vilniaus aukštesnioji technikos mokykla and in 2002 the Vilnius Technical College. In 2008 the college became the Faculty of Technology of the College of Construction and Design Vilnius. Since September 1, 2008, this college has been the Vilnius Technology and Design College ( Vilniaus technologijų ir dizaino kolegija ).
