The Kolshorner pond is a Stretch of 0.5 km northeast of the village Kolshorn in Lehrte , Lower Saxony .
It is located on the road from Burgdorf to Kolshorn. There are two quarry ponds. The larger lake to the north of the road is known as the Kolshorn pond.
The approximately 260 × 210 m large and slightly angled lake with an 80 × 50 m (0.3 ha) island and a shallow bank area in the northwestern part was created around 1985. The remaining bank sections are relatively steep, the deepest point at around 17 m water depth is in the southern area.
The lake is used by the Hanover fishing association as a fishing spot. In 2009 eel, brown trout, perch, pike, carp, rainbow trout, roach, tench, catfish and pikeperch were reported from the lake.
In 2018, bundles of wood were sunk in around 20 percent of the riparian zone as part of a nationwide model test. This bundle is intended to increase the biodiversity in the quarry pond. The measure is funded by the federal program for biological diversity .
