Kolven (Norwegian for club , in Australia Alfons Island ) is a small island off the Mawson coast of the East Antarctic Mac Robertson Land . It is located in Utstikkar Bay , 800 m east of Stedet Island, immediately northeast of Falla Bluff .
Norwegian cartographers, who also named them descriptively, mapped them using aerial photographs of the Lars Christensen expedition in 1936/37 . Scientists from the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions named it in 1959 after Alfons Bolza (* 1918), a weather observer at Mawson Station in 1958.
