The committee is also responsible for speaking to South Korean government agencies, as North Korea believes that South Korea has no legitimate government.
history
It was founded on May 13, 1961 after the South Korean President Rhee Syng-man resigned in South Korea in April. It has taken over the tasks of the Council in North Korea for the peaceful reunification of the fatherland .
organization
The committee is organized into a central committee, a standing committee and a secretariat. In addition, it maintains departments that are divided into organization, propaganda, conferences, research, general affairs, information and secret affairs.
A bulletin will also be published, the “Jopyongtong Secretariat Bulletin ”. With this bulletin one reacts to current political events in South Korea and one tries to launch a voice critical of the government. It also operates the Uriminzokkiri web portal .
