The commandant of the sea defense R , abbreviated to Seekommandant R, was a regional coastal commander of the German navy in World War II , who should be responsible for the area of the coast around Leningrad .

In the spring of 1941, the Navy made organizational preparations for the German attack on the Soviet Union ( Operation Barbarossa ). For this purpose, the staffs of several sea command offices were set up, which were initially only designated with a letter and without geographical reference. The staff was located in Duderhof (Russian. Moschaiskaja) southwest of today's Saint Petersburg . The area of command extended from the mouth of the Narwa along the Baltic Sea coast to the main battle line .
The subordination changed in November 1941 under the newly established Admiral Ostland , from February 1943 commanding Admiral Ostland .
In February 1944, the staff was incorporated into that of the Commandant of the Naval Defense Reval , who was also renamed the Commander of the Naval Defense Estonia .
