Commander of the British Sector of Berlin

The Commander of the British Sector of Berlin was one of the four Allied City Commanders of Berlin, who represented the occupying army of the British Royal Majesty in Germany in the Inter-Allied Military Command (later: Allied Commandant ) . The Allied Command was the body with which the four occupying powers, the USA , Great Britain , France and the Soviet Union, exercised control over Berlin after the Second World War . She was subordinate to the Allied Control Council .

From 1946 to 1990 the British city commanders lived in Villa Lemm in the Gatow district , which belongs to the Spandau district. Since the tenure of David Scott-Barrett it has been protected by forces of the German Service Unit (Berlin) , the later 248 German Security Unit .

The city commanders also celebrated Queen Elizabeth II's annual birthday with a big party in the villa . During the early 1970s, the captain's cabin , which is located in the same district, was discovered by the city commandant at the time, where u. a. Space was used for strategic meetings. In 1973 even Princess Anne of England visited the captain's cabin .
