Upcoming Saint-Andre

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Coming Saint-Andre was a branch of the Teutonic Order within the city of Liège .

Founded in 1254 , it also included the parishes of Saint-Andre and Saint Gangulphus, as well as the Mostadr Hospital and the Hors-Chateau beguinage.

The Commander of the Comtur of the Ballei Alden Biesen was always a priest of the order, who was called Grootpastor and was a member of the Ball Chapter. He was also the spiritual director of the Ballei priests, as well as pastor of the parishes of St. Andrew and St. Gangulphus.

The parish of Saint-Andre was one of the largest parishes in the city, counting 2,250 Catholics in 22 streets in the mid-17th century. The parish of St. Gangulphus, on the other hand, was much smaller, with hardly more than 100 Catholics and always being looked after by a sub-pastor.

The coming one was a representative building and brought in around 1,000 guilders a year with its goods. It was secularized in 1794 .
