The German Order is a religious order of the Catholic Church , whose members are priests and lay people . In the course of his history he was given numerous parishes , some of which are still incorporated into him today. In these parish life took place like in any other parish, but the order had the right to nominate the pastor and to administer the property. After the First World War , the order was transformed into a clerical institute. Here the parishes went over to the priories, which had taken the place of the balleien . Numerous other parishes have been handed over to the Teutonic Order to date. However, these are no longer incorporated to him, but have been handed over in a kind of "business appointment contract", which can be terminated at any time by the order or the bishop , whereby the order loses its nomination of the pastor and the parish is again subject to the administration of the bishop, who now oversees it. The order only nominates the pastor.
