action

Each of these books describes different cases that the Commissioner is working on. In the course of a story the perpetrator reveals himself and at the end the reader is asked who the perpetrator is or how he betrayed himself. The solution can then be checked with a miracle foil (a red foil) found in the book . In previous editions, you could make a magnifying glass from this film .

The crimes Kugelblitz works on are mostly cleverly executed thefts and frauds, but - since this is a children's book series - never violent crimes, with the exception of minor or more serious injuries, which are not the subject of the crime and also do not result in bloodshed . The investigations are always described so simply that the reader stays "on the ball" or is even ahead of them based on their own considerations. At the end there is always a logical conclusion from Kugelblitz, which the latter draws from the carelessness of the perpetrator, which results in his arrest.

Inspector Isidor Kugelblitz is, as he only has sparse, white hair, apparently in his later years. He is fat, has a moon face and a mustache, which gives him a personable appearance. In character he is a good-natured and friendly, but also very determined and determined person. Kugelblitz lives and works in Hamburg . Most of his cases take place there. But it can also happen that individual cases take place in some other place in the world.

The reader does not learn too much about the private life of Kugelblitz. Kugelblitz is a childless widower and has a housekeeper named Mrs. Besenritter. Often his nephew Martin appears in the stories. He is 12 years old and attends the Schiller-Gymnasium in Hamburg (vol. 18). Occasionally, Kugelblitz does something with him in his spare time and happens to have to help solve cases that arise. Kugelblitz also has a mother. One story tells that he chose a gift for her. Often his friend Tütü also appears. In the first volumes he lives like ball lightning in Hamburg. In a later episode, Tütü emigrates to New Zealand and gets married there. Kugelblitz visits his friend there. Instead of a relaxing vacation, he has to help his New Zealand colleagues in a kidnapping case.

In volume 16, Kugelblitz receives a safari trip to South Africa from his South African friend and colleague Joop Nelson . But during the educational trip he has to help solve a case of poaching. This case takes him and his colleague Nelson to neighboring Mozambique . There the two of them help their Mozambican colleague, Inspector Mali, Ali Moffo, to convict the nephew of an influential minister of criminal acts and to arrest him despite his trump card.

In Volume 18, Kugelblitz takes a vacation on the North Sea. But he cannot fully enjoy this either because he has to help his colleagues on site to clear up a series of blackmail and arson attacks.

Kugelblitz has a great preference for ice cream sundaes, which he often pursues. But sometimes he is also on a diet and therefore does without it.

Kugelblitz does not work alone, but has three subordinates with whom he works on his cases; in individual cases they are heavily involved in solving them. Once there is Sonja Sandmann, a young and very attentive police officer, short-haired, blonde, slim and tall. She is solo but has a boyfriend at times. Sandmann only appears from Volume 12 (The Coral Case) because she is being transferred from Büsum to Hamburg. Number two in Kugelblitz 'team is Police Master Peter Zwiebel. Onion is also quite large, dark-haired and bearded. He is married and the father of the boys Max and Moritz. He is also a fairly alert head, but more of an executive organ. The last of the group is Fritz Pommes. Like ball lightning, he's quite stout and less tall. Otherwise, there's not much to say about french fries other than that he's a little slower in the head than his colleagues. A secretary named Ella Rok also works for the four officers for a short time. This only occurs in Volume 12 (The Coral Case).
