Ursel Scheffler

Ursel Scheffler (born July 29, 1938 in Nuremberg ) is a German children's book author .

Life

Scheffler studied Romance and English in Erlangen and Munich . She passed teaching exams , translation exams , master's exams in Romance studies, English studies and folklore (fairy tales, sagas). She wrote her master's thesis on French fairy tales in the 17th century in 1975. She has been married to Eberhard Scheffler since 1960, has three children and has lived in Hamburg since 1977.

Over 300 children's books were published by well-known German and foreign publishers and licensed editions in 30 languages. Her first picture book ( key word: tomato ) was published by Ellermann (Munich) in 1975 and received an American children's book award for the edition Alle namen him Tomate (1994) by Nord Süd Verlag.

Ursel Scheffler is reading ambassador for the Reading Foundation and initiated the successful book towers program on November 11, 2011 as part of the reading promotion program .
