Local Political Association

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Local political associations are specialist organizations of political parties in Germany. They were created by the parties in order to standardize the activities of their municipal elected officials nationwide. This is done by issuing working aids and guidelines and organizing conferences. Conversely, local politicians are given the opportunity to influence federal and state politics. Already in the Weimar Republic there was a "local political association of the German Center Party ".

The Union parties founded in 1947, the Municipal Political Association of the CDU and CSU in Germany . The Social Democratic Community for Local Politics of the SPD did not come into being until 1978. In 1982 the FDP founded the Association of Liberal Local Politicians . These party-affiliated organizations are also divided into regional associations. Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen do not have a nationwide professional association, but local political organizations at state level such as the Green Alternative in the NRW councils . The Left runs “local political forums” in several federal states.

SPD

In addition to individual regional associations, the local politics of the SPD is also networked by a central municipal political association at the federal level ( Social Democratic Community for Local Politics, Federal SGK ). The regional associations in the individual federal states each bear the name SGK + [name federal state] (e.g. SGK Berlin).
