Roland Roth

Roland Roth (* 1949 ) is a German political scientist and civil rights activist .

Life

Roth studied social sciences from 1968 to 1973 at the universities of Frankfurt am Main and Marburg . After ten years in political adult education, he received his doctorate in 1984 at the University of Frankfurt am Main , then research assistant at the Faculty of Social Sciences there and later senior assistant at the Free University of Berlin . In 1992 Roth completed his habilitation in political science . From 1993 until his retirement in 2014 he was Professor of Political Science at the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences . He was also a Research Fellow at the University of California, Santa Cruz in 1997/98 and visiting professor at the University of Vienna in 1999 .

Roth is one of the founders of the Committee for Fundamental Rights and Democracy . Furthermore, he a member of the scientific advisory board of Attac , a board member of the Association for protest and movement research eV and co-founder of the eponymous  Institute of protest and movement research  (ipb) and member of the Scientific Council of the Basic Income Network , the German organization of the Basic Income Earth Network ( BIEN) for an unconditional basic income .
