The Basic Income Earth Network (BIEN) is a global network that aims to promote an unconditional basic income with congresses, research and lobbying .

history

The organization, founded in 1986, held its first international conference in Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium) in September of that year . The network initially called the Basic Income European Network (BIEN) spread its influence across the globe by 1994. In 1998, a circular was introduced three times a year, which now appears every two months on the basis of e-mails .

The organization is one of the initiators of the annual International Week of Basic Income , which Günter Sölken launched in 2008 .

USA, 1999

The US Basic Income Guarantee Network (USBIG) was founded in December 1999.

Switzerland, 2001

Founded in 2001 profit association Basic Income Earth Network Switzerland (BIEN-Switzerland) since 2002 part of BIEN. It is registered as a politically independent organization in accordance with Art. 60 ff. Of the Swiss Civil Code. The chairman is Albert Jörimann.

BIEN-Schweiz organized the international BIEN congress in Geneva in 2002 and took part in the federal popular initiative for an unconditional basic income 2012/16 .

Austria, 2002

The network: Basic Income and Social Cohesion, founded on October 21, 2002 , BIEN-Austria also participates in a European Citizens' Initiative (EBI) for an unconditional basic income. This ECI has been registered with the European Commission since January 14, 2013 (ECI (2013) 000001). The voluntary citizens' committee consists of over 50 people from 15 countries. The aim is to discuss the unconditional basic income broadly at the European level in order to finally introduce it. The European Commission is being asked to exhaust all its options, said Klaus Sambor, the Austrian chairman of this citizens' initiative .

Germany, 2004

The Basic Income Network has been a member of BIEN since 2004. In January 2013 there were 3984 club members and 114 organizations. In September 2016 there were 4,417 people and 123 organizations.

The network basic income is supported by a friends' association and a scientific advisory board . In January 2013 there were three members of the board: Reimund Acker, Ronald Blaschke and Ralf Engelke.

There are other BIEN networks in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Denmark, Finland, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Canada, Mexico, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain, South Africa and South Korea.
