The Kompsatos ( Bulgarian Сушица Suschiza , Greek Κομψάτος ), also Kourou, is a 68 km long river in the Greek administrative region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace . The source of the Kompatsos is in the Rhodope Mountains in the Xanthi regional district near Thermes. The outflow is to the southeast; at the height of Iasmos the river turns to the south-west and finally reaches the lagoon of Lake Vistonida , which is connected to the Aegean Sea by channels . On its course it flows through the bridge over the Kompsatos . It crosses the Thessaloniki-Alexandroupolis railway and the Aftokinitodromos 2 motorway (Εγνατία Οδός).
