The 2018 Western & Southern Open was a tennis tournament that took place in Mason, Ohio near Cincinnati from August 12-19, 2018 . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2018 and was played outdoors on hard courts. This season it was the seventh of nine tournaments in the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 category . At the same time, the women's Western & Southern Open took place in Cincinnati .

The defending champions were Grigor Dimitrov in singles and Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut in doubles .

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 56 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 24 pairs. The eight top seeded players in singles or pairings in doubles each received a bye in the first round.

qualification

The qualification took place on August 10th and 11th, 2018. Seven qualifying places were played that entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament. There were also two lucky losers.
