Michael Mmoh (born January 10, 1998 in Riyadh ) is an American tennis player .

Career

Mmoh's father, Tony, is its greatest sponsor. He himself was number 105 in the world in 1987 and represented Nigeria at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul .

Mmoh has been training at the IMG Tennis Academy in Bradenton , Florida since he was 13 . Michael Mmoh mainly plays on the ATP Challenger Tour and the ITF Future Tour . So far, he has celebrated two individual victories on the Challenger Tour. The first appearance on the ATP World Tour took place in doubles at the US Open . Here Mmoh formed a pair with Frances Tiafoe . They won their first round game, but then lost in the next round against Scott Lipsky and Rajeev Ram clearly in straight sets. In 2016, the singles made it into a Grand Slam tournament for the first time. He triumphed at the USTA Boy's 18s National Championships , which earned him a wild card for the US Open , where he was defeated by Jérémy Chardy in three sets. By winning the USTA Pro Circuit's Australian Open Wildcard Challenge , he also earned a wildcard for the Australian Open .

After Mmoh won the individual titles of the consecutive tournaments in Columbus and Tiburon in September 2018 , he made it into the top 100 in the world for the first time with 96th place .
