Iasmos ( Greek Ίασμος ( m. Sg. )) Has been a municipality in the northeastern Greek region of East Macedonia and Thrace since 2011 . The parish is divided into three parish districts. The administrative seat is the small town of the same name Iasmos .

location

The municipality of Iasmos extends in the center of the East Macedonia and Thrace region over 485.285 km² between Bulgaria in the north and Lake Vistonida in the south. Neighboring communities are Komotini in the east and Myki , Xanthi and Avdira in the west .

Administrative division

The municipality was formed after the administrative reform in 2010 from the merger of the former municipalities of Iasmos and Sostis and the rural municipality of Amaxades . The administrative seat of the municipality is the city of Iasmos . The former municipalities have since formed municipal districts. The community is further subdivided into a city district and 10 local communities.

The two most important traffic routes in northern Greece run through the municipality in a west-east direction with the Autobahn 2 and the Thessaloniki – Alexandroupoli railway .
