Paranesti ( Greek Παρανεστί ( n. Sg. )) Has been a municipality in the northeastern Greek region of East Macedonia and Thrace since 2011 . The parish is divided into two parish districts. The administrative seat is the place of the same name Paranesti .

Paranesti is the north-easternmost municipality of Macedonia and with 1029.392 km² the third largest in the region of East Macedonia and Thrace . In the north it borders on Bulgaria . Adjacent communities are from the east to southeast Myki , Xanthi , Nestos and Kavala , in the south Doxato and western drama .
Administrative division
The municipality was formed after the administrative reform in 2010 from the merger of the former municipalities Nikiforos and Paranesti . Paranesti is the administrative seat of the municipality. The former municipalities have since formed municipal districts. The community is further subdivided into 10 local communities.
