Buchwald confectionery in Berlin-Tiergarten

The Buchwald pastry shop is one of the oldest preserved pastry shops in Berlin . It is located at Bartningallee 29 in Berlin-Hansaviertel .

history

After an apprenticeship as a baker in Poland, Gustav Buchwald opened a pastry shop at Sandower Straße 4 in Cottbus in 1852 , which specialized in tree cakes . In 1883 he became the official " royal Prussian court supplier ". At the turn of the century, Buchwald's son Gustav Buchwald junior bought the house at Brückenallee 18 (today Bartningallee 29) in the then newly emerging Hansaviertel . In 1933 he bequeathed the business to his great niece Käthe Dielitz. In 1939 the pastry shop had to close and reopened after the Second World War in the partially destroyed house. In 1993 her daughter Ursula Kantelberg took over the shop. She had worked in the pastry shop since 1950 and took over the management of the bakery after completing her master's degree in 1963. Ursula Kantelberg's daughter Andrea Tönges has been running the pastry shop since 2015.
