This includes words that are considered English but are in fact not English words and only sound English, as well as use of English according to Korean grammar.

Pseudo-anglicisms

Examples of pseudo-Anglicisms , apparently original English words, are:

  • handeupon ( kor. 핸드폰 from hand and phone for mobile phone )
  • seu-kin-seu-ku-beo ( 스킨 스쿠버 skin scuba for scuba diving )
  • sya-peu (샤프 from sharp , a mechanical pen)
  • won-rum (원룸 from One room , an Apartment / Garçonnière )
  • won-syat (원샷 one shot , a saying that asks someone else to drink a glass to ex.)
  • paiting or hwaiting (파이팅, 화이팅) from fighting , a Korean cheer that can be translated as "victory" or "forward", but also serves to encourage or encourage (like "fight", "go on")
  • a-pa-teu (아파트 from apartment , not only denotes the room, but the entire apartment block.)

Anglicisms

Original Anglicisms can also take on other meanings such as chanseu ( Korean 찬스 chance for opportunity, chance), which is also used in the context of sales promotions.

In contrast, pure Anglicisms such as homreon ( Kor. 홈런 homerun for the homerun ) are not called Konglish.

grammar

English spoken by native Korean speakers using Korean grammar also belongs to Conglic.

Example:

"Su-ji and me talk or see comic book all night if meet. Because he is short and plump and face is round, potato doll is same. If see, to hug. " (From KONGLISH ROCKS! Scott Soper)
