history

The party was founded in 1992 as the successor organization to the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN). Among the founders was Slawa Stezko , widow of Jaroslaw Stezko , who was elected as a member of the KUN in 1997 and 1998. In 1994 the party entered the Verkhovna Rada for the first time with five MPs . Due to the Ukrainian-nationalist orientation, its focus has been in western Ukraine since it was founded. In 1998 the KUN, as part of an alliance of nationalist parties, failed to re-enter parliament, but received three direct mandates, and therefore in 2002 joined the Our Ukraine bloc . It was represented through this in the Ukrainian parliament. The KUN was actively involved in the Euromaidan demonstrations in 2013 and 2014. In the parliamentary elections in Ukraine in 2014 he received 8,976 votes, which corresponds to 0.05 percent.
