Congress settlement
The Kongresssiedlung is a municipal housing development of the City of Vienna in the south of the 13th district, Hietzing , as a settlement in the former Lainzer Tiergarten . The name of the settlement is reminiscent of the 11th International City Congress held in Vienna in 1953.
The settlement is located west of the city center end of Dr.-Schober-Straße on Lainzer-Bach-Straße, Kalmanstraße and Wilhelm-Karczag-Weg.
The residential complex was built between 1951 and 1952 with two-storey apartment blocks with loft extensions under pitched roofs. Three mosaics of the seasons by Heinrich Tahedl were attached to the gable fronts facing Dr.-Schober-Straße with localities for small businesses . At the kindergarten in Lainzer-Bach-Straße there are two enamel works of harvest scenes by Maria Schwamberger-Riemer.
