Koni BV is a Dutch manufacturer of shock absorbers and suspension elements for cars , trucks , trains , motorcycles and motorsport .

The main location is in Oud-Beijerland (NL), where research and development, production and administration are located. In addition, Koni has sales subsidiaries in Germany, France and the USA. The company currently employs around 1000 people at several locations.

history

The company was founded in Oud-Beijerland near Rotterdam in 1857 and originally manufactured horse harness and upholstery, and from 1932 the production of shock absorbers began. The name Koni has been used since 1940. In 1945 the adjustable telescopic damper was produced for automobiles and trucks.

1972 Koni was American US from ITT Industries Inc. bought.

In 2003, the then Australian importer bought the complete production line for motorcycle shock absorbers and has been producing the shock absorbers under the name IKON since then.

Motorsport

Koni is the supplier of numerous formula, sports and touring cars worldwide. Koni has been involved in motorsport for fifty years now , with more than 230 Grand Prix victories and 13 world championship titles being achieved with Koni shock absorbers in Formula 1 in particular . A new development from Koni is the patented FSD technology for cars and buses, which is already used successfully in the Formula 3 Euro Series . This damper technology is also used in McLaren Racing's Formula 1 cars .
