Prohibition of cohabitation
The ban on cohabitation was a legal requirement in parts of Switzerland and Germany , which forbade wild marriage and made it subject to criminal liability .
The ban on cohabitation was lifted in Bavaria in 1970, in the canton of Zurich in 1972 , in the canton of Schwyz in 1992 and in the canton of Valais in 1995 .
