David Mazouz (born February 19, 2001 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American actor . He gained notoriety in particular through his leading role in the television series Touch , where he played the mute Jacob "Jake" Bohm .

life and career

David Mazouz was born to the physicist Michel Mazouz and his wife Rachel Cohen-Mazouz, who works as a therapist. His father is of French descent, his mother has Greek roots. He is the younger brother of Rebecca Mazouz , who also works as an actress. He comes from a Sephardic family.

Mazouz learned music and sketch improvisation at the Chicago theater group The Second City , and in cabaret -Club The Improv , where he also wrote his own works. After Mazouz his career with appearances in commercials began, he had his acting debut in 2010 in the Lifetime - Television Movie Amish Grace . He gained first notoriety through his role in the love comedy Coming & Going from 2011. In the same year he was hired for the US broadcaster Fox broadcast mystery series Touch . In the short-lived series, Mazouz plays the silent, numbers-obsessed autistic boy Jacob "Jake" Bohm , who can predict the future. For this role he was nominated at the Young Artist Awards 2013 in the category Best Actor in a TV Series. In addition to his television career, which to date mainly included guest appearances in various series but also a leading role in the television film Dear Dumb Diary , he showed his acting versatility in the horror film Sanitarium in 2013 .

In March 2014 Mazouz got the role of Bruce Wayne in the Fox crime series Gotham , which has aired since 2014. It shows the beginnings of Batman and his later relationship with James Gordon , a police officer with the Gotham City Police Department.
