Alf Konningen (born June 24, 1901 in Sandsvær , † January 27, 1978 in Kongsberg ) was a Norwegian ski racer .

biography

Konningen was one of the pioneers of alpine ski racing in Norway. In 1934 he won the country's first downhill race in his hometown of Kongsberg. In the following winter he went to Germany and France to gain experience and compete with runners from the Alpine countries.

In February 1935 he took part in the World Ski Championships in Mürren, Switzerland, where he finished 18th in downhill skiing. The following year he was a member of the Norwegian team at the Olympic Winter Games in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , where alpine competitions were on the program for the first time. After he was ranked 5th in the downhill, he was ninth in the slalom and finished 8th in the final combination classification. In 1938 he was third in the combination at the Norwegian Ski Championships, which were held for the first time.

After finishing his sports career, he worked as a lathe operator until he retired.
