Konrad Butterweck

Konrad Butterweck (born April 15, 1825 in Kassel , † January 14, 1899 in Riga ) was a German theater actor .

Life

At the age of five he was trained for ballet. Growing up, he switched to singing and was already active in the theater choir at the age of fourteen. In 1843 he left the theater for a while and took up a practical profession. He traveled the world and did not return to the stage until 1846. Now began a restless wandering life until he was committed to the city theater in Riga in 1864 , where he made his debut in the folk play "The Leiermann and his foster child". For many years he was one of the most valued members of this stage until he celebrated his 50th anniversary on April 24, 1896. Then he retired from the stage. He died of a heart attack on January 14, 1899.

His older brother Hermann was also a stage actor.
