Conrad IV (Rietberg)

Conrad IV. (* Around 1371; † June 21, 1428 ) was Count von Rietberg from 1389 to 1428 .

Life

He was born the son of Count Otto II von Rietberg and his wife Adelheid zur Lippe . After his father's death on July 18, 1389, he succeeded him as regent of the County of Rietberg .

On April 24, 1399 he married Irmgard / Ermegardis von Diepholz († March 24, 1426), a daughter of Johann von Diepholz († 1422) and Kunigunde von Oldenburg. He had three children with her:

  • Konrad V (* around 1401; † October 31, 1472), 1428–1472 Count of Rietberg
  • Johann (mentioned 1415-1452)
  • Adelheid von Rietberg († 1436/1439), ∞ Count Otto von Hoya († after May 14, 1436)

Konrad died on June 21, 1428. He was buried in the grave of the Counts of Rietberg in the Marienfeld monastery . On the gravestone they shared with his wife Irmgard:

In German translation:

In the year of the Lord 1426, March 24th, died
the noblewoman Irmgard Countess von Rietberg,

In the year of the Lord 1428, on June 21st, died
the nobleman Konrad Graf von Rietberg.
Rest his soul in peace.

The sources say that Konrad IV was also married to Beatrix von Bronckhorst († 1392).
