Konstantin Michailowitsch Bykov

Konstantin Mikhailovich Bykov ( Russian Константин Михайлович Быков ; born January 8 . Jul / 20th January  1886 greg. In Chukhloma ; † 13. May 1959 in Leningrad ) was a Russian / Soviet physiologist who greatly from Ivan Petrovich Pavlov was affected.

Life

In 1912 Bykov graduated from Kazan University , until 1921 he was scientifically and educationally active at the same university.

From 1921 to 1950 he worked at the Institute for Experimental Medicine (1921-1932 under the direct supervision of Pavlov).

Since 1950 Bykov was director of the Institute of Physiology of the Central Nervous System of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR.

He died on May 13, 1959. Bykov was buried in St. Petersburg at the Volkovo Cemetery.

Research services

Konstantin Bykow developed the doctrine on the influence of the cerebral cortex on internal organs, the doctrine on the sensitivity of internal organs. In the field of digestive physiology, he studied the importance of mechanical stimulation of the gastric glands and studied in detail the features of digestion in humans. In the field of experimental balneology, Bykow collected extensive material that justifies the therapeutic effects of mineral water, sulfur springs and radon baths on various body functions.
